A visit to the Medici Villa of Castello and to the places of Dante in Florence
On the occasion of the Week of the Italian Language in the World (19–25 October), the Orvieto Committee of the Società Dante Alighieri is organising a guided visit to the Medici Villa of Castello, home of the Accademia della Crusca, and to the places associated with Dante in Florence.
The visit, reserved for members but also open to non-members, subject to availability, will be led by Prof. Domenico De Martino, who has worked with the Accademia for more than thirty years and is one of the leading experts in Dante philology.
Our choice of this destination to launch our series of literary journeys is no coincidence: the Week of the Italian Language was established in 2001 by Francesco Sabatini, then President of the Accademia della Crusca, and Dante — author of the De Vulgari Eloquentia — is universally recognised as the father of the Italian language.
